Dairy farmers in Victoria, Australia, get support from government and industry
The government in Victoria has come together with the industry to put an $11.4m (€7.28m) support package to relieve some of the pressure on dairy farmers following milk price cuts.
The fund of $5.2m (€3.38m) from the dairy industry comprises of $2.8m (€1.82m) from Dairy Australia, $1.4m (€910,000) from the Gardiner Foundation, $1m (€650,000) from Murray Goulburn, with the remainder coming from the state government. The Gardiner Foundation is a proactive investor in projects that have a significant impact for the Victorian industry and wider community.
The support will include business support, financial counselling and family support at United Farmers of Victoria.
