A man in his 50s has died in a farm accident in Co Cavan. The incident happened in the Mountnugent area of the county on Wednesday morning, 1 April. It is understood the incident involved a tractor.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said it has launched an investigation into the accident.

To date this year, there has been three fatalities on Irish farms.

Last year, 18 people died on Irish farms and it is the country’s most dangerous sector to work in.
