Major Equipment Ltd will be returning to the 2014 FTMTA Grass & Muck event with a selection of grass-cutting and slurry-spreading equipment from its extensive product range.

Major is a manufacturer of agricultural, amenity and site equipment. All products are made and distributed under the Major brand.

The company was established in 1976 and started out manufacturing grass toppers solely for the Irish agricultural market. Over the years, it has expanded and grown its range of products.

The product range now includes pasture toppers, flail shredders, roller mowers, slurry tankers, slurry agitator pumps and slurry injection equipment for the agricultural and amenity industries.

Major will demonstrate the new Major ProMow disc mower at the Grass & Muck event. It added the ProMow to its range of machinery earlier this year. This mower can be easily mounted to the tractor by a single operator. It folds neatly and safely into a 1.8m transport width.

The machine is equipped with a heavy-duty PTO shaft with an overrun for added protection of the cutting bar.

The Major ProMow disc mower claims to give an excellent cut, using the strong and reliable six-disc Comer cutting bar.

The blades are manufactured from 4mm of hardened steel. The cutting bar is fully serviceable from the top, allowing easy access for routine maintenance.

The mower is fitted with a host of equipment and claims to offer farmers a new value for money option.

The parallel linkage system gives the bed a flat lift when mowing on headlands or in awkward field contours.

To reduce wear and tear on the belts, the heavy-duty spring-loaded pulley tensioner gives consistent tension. The grass board allows the swath to be neatly aligned and separated from uncut material. Easyfit topping skids are supplied as standard for heavier cutting conditions.

The entry model Major ProMow disc mower is available in a working width of 2.4m (8ft). Later this summer, Major will be offering two additional models with cutting widths of 2.7m (9ft) and 3.1m (10ft). The mowers have been tested extensively in Irish conditions.

Major will also exhibit its latest range of slurry spreading machines. These are available in a range of sizes and with different tyre and wheel configurations, to suit the individual farmer’s and contractor’s needs, including a hydraulic pump drive version for additional safety.
