Michael Gove said that his Scottish counterpart, Fergus Ewing, had offered that the Scottish Government would help increase UK domestic timber supplies.
CONVERGENCE – Money cannot be clawed back from other parts of the UK, but the Government will consider how best to share funds in the future, given the requirements of different parts of the UK.
RING-FENCING OF FUNDS – Scotland’s existing share of 16% of the UK’s total EU agriculture funding will be ring-fenced.
SAFEGUARDING PAYMENTS TO 2022 – Pillar I and II payments are guaranteed in cash terms until 2022.
UK/SCOTLAND AGRICULTURE BILL – The UK agriculture bill should be published by the end of July. The Scottish Government may wish to publish its own bill to explain how Scottish payments will be administered.
CONTROLLED MIGRATION – The UK Government is considering means for facilitating seasonal workers.
COMMON UK FRAMEWORKS/DEVOLUTION OF POWERS - Animal and plant health is the number one area that will be subject to UK-wide controls after transition.
FORESTRY – The UK should grow more trees, but in the right places.
TRADE – UK standards should not be undermined by imports. There are new export opportunities, eg for lamb and pork.
PROTECTED FOOD NAME SCHEMES – It is in the UK and the EU’s interests to ensure that protected food name products are recognised across the UK-EU border.
ADDITIONAL DEVOLVED POWERS – The Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government will acquire more powers as a result of leaving the EU.
