Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon is targeting the next Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to help fund a farm succession scheme.
Ireland will hold the EU presidency from 1 July to 31 December 2026. Many of the negotiations around the next CAP will take place in this time.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, Minister Heydon said the Irish Government can only look at short-term interventions until the next CAP.
