The Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) is to consider allowing three herds that were removed from its Whole Herd Performance Recording Programme earlier this year back into the programme.

An ICBF spokesperson told the Irish Farmers Journal that in the new year it will look at re-weighing and re-entering the three herds.

The herds were removed from the ICBF’s whole herd recording programme after questions were raised over birth dates recorded for calves in the programme. In order to maintain the integrity and reputation of the programme, they were removed from it.

Two of the herds were from the Irish Limousin Cattle Society.
