Payments under the third and final year of the Knowledge Transfer (KT) programme are to issue in November, a Department of Agriculture spokesperson has told the Irish Farmers Journal.

The KT programme officially ended on Wednesday 31 July. The Department anticipates payments for the third year of the programme to range between €17m and €20m. To date, the Department has issued payments of €39.5m for years one and two.

Over 18,000 farmers took part in the programme, which was launched in 2016 with the aim of attracting 27,000 farmers.

Meanwhile, the forestry Knowledge Transfer programme is up and running for a second year.

Under the programme, forest owners who participate in these groups can receive a maximum payment up to €490 for attending seven meetings organised by a group.

The organiser will receive €6,500 for each group. Over 600 farmers and forestry owners took part in the 2018 scheme.
