There was a good entry of sheep at the weekly sale in Swatragh Mart on Saturday last, with over 800 animals being forwarded. The trade for lambs was steady, but prices have eased slightly on the back of lower factory prices and increasing supplies.

A limited entry of fat ewes sold to a top price of £100 for heavy fleshed animals capable of moving direct to slaughter.

Peak

The trade for lambs reached a peak of £85.50 for a pen of 22 lambs weighing 22.5kg half-weight. Other noted prices saw a pen of lambs weighing 25kg sell for £85.

This price was matched on several occasion, with pens of lambs weighing 25.75kg, 27kg and 28kg.

Several lots weighing 24.5kg to 25kg sold for £85, while £84.50 was paid on a pen weighing 24.5kg.

Lambs weighing 24kg sold to £84.20 on several occasions, while £84 was paid for pens of lambs weighing 24.5kg to 25.5kg. Lighter lambs weighing 21kg to 22kg sold upwards from £80.
