Rangeland Foods, the Co Monaghan-based burger company, made bumper profits in 2019, according to accounts recently filed with the companies office.

The accounts show Rangeland Foods made operating profits of just over €1.1m in 2019, which was almost seven times higher than the previous year.

The bumper profits were built on strong margin expansion, with operating profits in the business rising from less than 1% in 2018 to almost 5% in 2019.

Rangeland saw its sales increase by 11% in 2019 to hit €23.6m

The accounts for Rangeland Foods show the business has retained profits of just under €6.7m on its balance sheet at year-end.

Overall, Rangeland saw its sales increase by 11% in 2019 to hit €23.6m, with the vast majority of its sales coming from Ireland and EU markets. The company had net assets of €6.8m at year-end 2019.

Owned by the Lucey family, Rangeland manufactures frozen burgers for the foodservice market, but does not sell to customers in the UK. The company directors report that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the business, resulting in lower than expected trading volumes in 2020.
