Comment: Pat O’Flaherty, IFA National Pigs Committee chairman, said that the German pig producer representative body’s call sounded very familiar when it accused German factories of employing underhand tactics to depress producer prices (-5c/kg) when much stronger prices are being paid elsewhere, such as in France, the UK, Spain and the USA. However, we may argue with the claim that it was only countries in the northwest not getting price increases, as Irish, Danish and Spanish prices were on hold this week. Week 15, Ireland was 97% of the EU average.
