I hear MSD has acquired IdentiGEN – the Irish-based DNA animal traceability company which was originally born in Trinity College if I’m not mistaken.

The technology was used successfully by Irish farmers to differentiate the origin of South American beef and pork from everywhere except Ireland.

DNA tracing is not exactly a vaccine in a bottle but it aligns MSD more and more into the identification and digital technology space.

However, not to be left behind in that animal remedy sphere, the company this week took full control of Vecoxan, giving it a strong footing in the treatment of coccidiosis in calves and lambs.
