Suckler farmer PJ was the happiest man in Monaghan after winning the prize on the Late Late Show last Friday.

His joyous celebrations were captured by thedailyedge.ie and Fitzsimons, who also works as a teacher, soon became an internet sensation. Sure, why would you want a weekend away when you could have an fine Easter feast - and, for a fleeting moment, a new best friend.

Fittingly, the leg of lamb received a hero's welcome upon PJ's return to his hometown of Inniskeen, in an epic adventure documented in the images below.

The day started with the leg of lamb enjoying some quality time on the farm

Checking the cattle

Enjoying a spin on the tractor

And spot of power-washing

...before heading out later that night

Stealing thunder at a 21st

Things got a bit hazy after that

After a tough day, the leg of lamb had the chance to get some rest

However, the time to say goodbye finally came, with PJ's new friend ending up on his plate

The lamb, or what was left of it, was also introduced to some of PJ's students. We can't say it didn't live a full life
