1 June is moving day on New Zealand’s South Island, where share milkers, farm staff and their families – and often their cows – move to new farms ahead of the start of a new dairy season.
Ukraine - wheat harvest

The country is forecast to harvest between 22 and 23 million tonnes of wheat in 2026, in line with 2025 production, the country’s largest farmer’s union said. The country produced 33 million tonnes in the year before the Russian invasion.
US - beef lockout
Processing giant Cargill stopped paying 1,700 workers at a plant in Colorado after unions rejected a pay offer. Cargill suspended operations at the plant a month ago amid the continuing upheaval in the US beef industry, driven by high prices and cattle shortages.
China - urea exports
Reports suggest that China is starting to allow the export of urea fertiliser for the first time since the unrest in the Middle East began. There is no indication of the amount of exports which will be permitted under the country’s quota system.
