Drummonds will host an open day at its trial site in Termonfeckin, Co Louth, this Friday 17 June. This is a great opportunity to see the trials, which consist of new varieties and different agronomy management practices.

There are over 1,000 trial plots on-site, managed by Brian Reilly, who is the agronomy service manager at Drummonds.

Drummonds is constantly on the lookout for new crop varieties that would suit its growers and the latest in this line will be on show on the day, including winter wheat, winter oats, winter barley, spring barley and oilseed rape.

Fungicide rates and timings have also been tested, while farmers will also be able to see how foliar nutrition and biostimulants have been performing.

Grass weed control will be discussed and there will be information on liquid fertiliser. Forage crops are also on the agenda and there will be practical demonstrations with seed drills and sprayers.

The open day will start at 2.30pm and will run until 5pm. Attendees are asked to register at the Drummonds Drogheda Branch (A92DY06). A shuttlebus will then take attendees to and from the trial site.
