A 47ac holding in Carlow has sold for €13,978/ac at auction, in lots. The property was at Ballinkillen, Bagenalstown and was sold by Quinn Property in an online auction. The holding included two derelict dwellings.

There were ten registered bidders. Bidding on Lot 1, c20.75ac with a derelict residence, opened at €180,000 and reached €310,000. Lot 2, c25.5ac, was bid to €200,000. Lot 3 was a derelict house on 0.75ac. It opened at €20,000 and was bid to €75,000.

In a second round of bidding, Lot 1 was knocked down at €320,000 to a local buyer. There were six additional bids on Lot 3 and it was knocked down at €87,000 to a local buyer.

There were a further five bids on Lot 2 and it was knocked down at €250,000 to a local auctioneer acting in trust. The total given for the three lots came to €657,000.

Quinn Property c67.5ac Kilcarney Upper & Knocknagilky Lower, Rathdangan Wicklow.

Quinn Property also sold 67.5ac near Rathdangan, Co Wicklow for €630,000 or €9,333/ac. The holding was at Kilcarney Upper and Knocknagilky Lower. The land was in one block. It included c40ac of good quality land with the balance requiring reclamation and suited for forestry.

Hennessy Auctioneers 26ac Capoley, Portlaoise, Co Laois.

In Co Laois, Hennessy Auctioneering sold c26.5ac at Capoley, Portlaoise, in three lots, at auction. Lot 1 was 14.5ac and it sold for €162,000. Lot 2 was 4.5ac and it sold for €66,000. Lot 3 was 7.5ac and it was knocked down for €77,000. The total was €305,000 equal to €11,509/ac.

In Co Galway, Martin Tyrrell Auctioneering of Tuam have sold 35c of good quality farmland at Ballinphuil, Corofin for €380,000 or €10,857/ac.

There were three interested parties. The land was purchased by a neighbouring farmer. “There is a steady market for good quality farmland,” Martin Tyrrell said afterwards.
