A 45.5ac farm in Co Kilkenny has sold at auction for €18,681/ac. The farm at Clorinka, Muckalee was sold by Joe Coogan Auctioneers. It had a derelict house and c12ac of forestry.

Bidding opened at €400,000 and the property went on the market at €620,000 with three bidders competing. After 47 bids, the hammer fell at €850,000. The property was purchased by three local people, two of them dairy farmers.

Joe Coogan has also sold c66.5ac at Rathdowney, Co Laois. It sold in three lots for a total of €1.195m which is almost €18,000/ac.

A large residential dairy farm in Co Limerick sold at auction for €4.15m. The 190ac holding at Kilcolman, Ardagh was sold by GVM Auctioneers. The guide price was €3m.

45.5ac at Clorinka, Muckalee, Co Kilkenny

Fifteen individuals registered to bid. The farm sold in lots to four different buyers. Lot 1 was the largest at c97ac, with the house and yard. It sold for €2.825m. It was bought in trust but the buyer is believed to be a business person with farming interests.

Lot 2 sold for €500,000, Lot 3 made €600,000 and Lot 4 made €225,000.

Georgian residence

A nice Georgian residence on c65ac was sold at auction by Quinn Property. The holding was St. Austin’s, at Coolgreaney, Gorey, Co Wexford.

Bidding opened at €1.4m and rose to €1.66m, at which point the property was withdrawn. Following negotiations it was sold to the highest bidder – based overseas – for a higher sum.

Co Meath auctioneer Thomas Potterton sold a cottage on 8ac at Dunsany. Bidding opened at €250,000 and it sold at €343,000. He also sold an 11.24ac field at Warrenstown, Drumree. It opened at €200,000 and sold for €430,000. This was over €38,000/ac.
