Fran McNulty has been appointed as RTÉ’s new agriculture and consumer affairs correspondent.
The Longford native started working for RTÉ in 2005 and has built up an impressive résumé, working most recently on Prime Time on exposing abuses in the fishing industry and issues in the agriculture and food production sectors.
“I look forward to examining the issues facing the agri sector, at a most challenging and difficult time. In particular I am thrilled that RTÉ News has decided to focus on consumer affairs. We will give voice to consumers and look at the challenges facing people,” McNulty said.

“This new role will look at what we earn, how we spend it, what we eat and how it is produced.”
Happy memories
Former agriculture and environment correspondent George Lee held the role for five years and said: “The happy memories I have of my interactions with so many farmers will remain with me.”
RTÉ has split the role of agriculture and environment and said they expected to make an announcement regarding their new environment and science correspondent in the coming weeks.
McNulty is expected to take up his new role by the end of the summer.
