Some of Ireland’s top professional and amateur female jockeys took time out for fashion before battling it out in Saturday’s thrilling head-to-head Kildare Village Ladies Derby Handicap.

Fashion was soon far from their minds though as the jockeys got down to business at the sweltering Juddmonte Irish Oaks on Saturday in the most sought-after prize in Ireland for female jockeys.

Grand National and Gold Cup winning jockey Rachael Blackmore couldn’t get past an assertive Sylvia O’Donnell on five-year-old family-owned Extensio, trained by O’Donnell’s father Pat, who was outwardly emotional as the pair crossed the line in style.
