Breeding sheep were a strong trade at Ballymena Mart this week.

There was a smaller entry of breeding sheep at Ballymena Mart on Monday evening on the back of difficult weather conditions.
In-lamb ewes sold to £142 for a pen of Suffolks, followed by £140 and £130 for other entries of Suffolk-cross ewes. Texel ewes sold from £108 to £128 for springing animals.
Ewes with lambs at foot sold to £185 for a Dorset with twin lambs, followed by £160 for another Dorset ewe with twins at foot. A Dorset with a single lamb made £108.

Foster ewes sold to £106 with pet lambs making £28.
A smaller entry of store hoggets sold to £76 on a couple of occasions for Suffolk-cross and Charollais-cross lambs.
Lighter types sold to £70 for a pen of Texel-cross sheep with £69 paid for Blackface and Charollais-cross sheep.
Other prices saw Dorset hoggets making £68, with lighter Texel-cross sheep making £67.50 back to £56 for a pen of Charollais-cross sheep.
