The new MS 400 C-M chainsaw from Stihl claims to be the world’s first chainsaw fitted with a magnesium piston as opposed to a traditional aluminium piston. This new 66.8cc model offering 4.1Nm of torque finds itself in the firm’s professional line of chainsaws.

Weighing in at 7.1kg and equipped with a 17in bar, the MS 400 C-M boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 1.5kg per kilowatt. The new magnesium piston is also said to increase the engine’s maximum speed, which now revs out to 14,000rpm.
