Storm Bella will bring high winds and heavy rain to Ireland from 3pm on St Stephen’s Day, Met Éireann has warned.

A yellow warning for both wind and rain is in place for the entire country,

Westerly winds associated with Storm Bella will reach mean speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h with gusts of 90km/h to 110km/h. Gusts will be higher at times near the west coast.

Heavy rain associated will move southwards over Ireland and may cause localised flooding in some areas.

The warnings will remain in place from 3pm on Saturday to 4am on Sunday morning.

With the combination of strong winds, high waves and forecasted storm surge, there is a risk of coastal flooding along the west coast.

A yellow marine warning is also in place.

West to southwest winds will reach gale force or strong gale force today and early tonight on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.
