Teagasc has estimated cereal production in Ireland at 2.23m tonnes for 2025, up from 1.9m tonnes in 2024.
Cereal area increased by approximately 4.6% in 2025, but the area of spring beans and oilseed rape declined.
This estimate places production up about 330,000t, almost matching the estimate of a 334,000t increase made by the Irish Farmers Journal in July on the Irish Farmers Journal Crop Tour.

Teagasc said: “Winter cereals accounted for most of the gains in 2025, as growers returned to a more normal cropping pattern after rain disruptions in autumn 2022 and 2023.”
The crop areas, estimated average yields and production are outlined in table 1.
Break crops
Winter oilseed rape area fell by approximately 25%. However, growers did well with average yields estimated at 5t/ha (2.02t/ac).
Spring beans also declined in area by approximately 23%. The average yield of spring beans was estimated at 5.1t/ha (2.06t/ac).
