Basic Payment Scheme (BPS)

Advance payments for the 2018 BPS and Greening began in mid-October. Almost 95% of eligible farmers have been paid to date, according to figures from the Department of Agriculture. A total of €746.26m has been issued to 114,841 farmers. This means there are just over 7,100 left to be paid.

The Department has indicated that the 30% balancing payments under the 2018 BPS will commence at the beginning of December. The Young Farmer Scheme and National Reserve payments are expected to be issued from that time also.

Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC)

ANC scheme payments began issuing in September, once farmers reached the annual average stocking density of 0.15LU/ha for 2018. A total of 85,001 farmers have been paid €205.39m for the 2018 ANC scheme, according to the Department.

Knowledge Transfer (KT)

Farmers can expect to receive year-two Knowledge Transfer payments from the first week of November. Payments worth €20m began issuing to facilitators this week and these payments will then be passed on to farmers.

GLAS, AEOS and Sheep Welfare

All advance payments for GLAS, AEOS and Sheep Welfare are to commence from November but the Department has not yet specified the dates.

There are also a number of plans, detailed here, farmers must submit before payments under GLAS can commence. Failure to meet deadlines could result in rejection from the scheme, the Department has warned.

Meanwhile BDGP and protein aid scheme payments will commence in December.
