Sean Couglan ICBF CEO will address the meeting and outline the upcoming rollout of the new Dairy Beef Index ahead of 2019 spring breeding. The new index has been developed to help dairy farmers select beef bulls that are easy calving, short gestation but also possess positive beef attributes like carcass weight and carcass confirmation. Sean will also outline some current genetic trends in the suckler herd at the meeting

Joe Burke, meat and livestock manager will outline market outlook and the issues affecting the current cattle trade. Joe will also give a live export update and also discuss brexit implications for the beef industry.

Adam Woods, beef editor with the Irish Farmers Journal will present details of dairy beef animals slaughtered off Tullamore farm in the past few weeks and give a Tullamore Farm update including animal performance. He will also give an outline on suckler cow support needed to underpin the sector.

Finally Angus Woods will outline CAP reform issues and the current market conditions for beef along with prospects for the 2019 beef market.
