In the last number of years drones have become extremely popular and more affordable to the amateur or hobby enthusiast. DJI are one of the largest players in the market and while other manufacturers do exist and may often be more affordable, DJI are among the best when it comes down to camera quality, build quality and reliability.

The latest offering from DJI on the higher end of its consumer range is the Mavic 2 Pro. Launched in August 2018 the Mavic 2 Pro packs a huge punch. It is fitted with a three-axis gimbal and stabilised 4K UHD Hasselblad camera with a one-inch CMOS sensor. Flight time is higher than its predecessor; now up to 31 minutes can be achieved using the battery. This increased flight time is due to the newly shaped, quieter, more efficient propulsion system on the Mavic Pro 2. The Mavic 2 also has more sensors than the original Mavic, with sensors on all sides to detect nearby obstacles. The Mavic 2 Pro retails at €1,500.

Wireless reversing camera kit

The Global LED wireless reversing camera is a handy addition to any machine and is priced at €170.

Keeping safety in mind – although not an essential piece of kit – a wireless reversing camera proves ideal for mounting on the rear of machinery such as slurry tankers, balers, trailers etc to monitor ongoing activity. This kit from LED global features a seven-inch digital screen with a recording function. Being wireless makes it easy to install, while it also has a waterproof body and night vision capabilities. Retailing at €170.

Battery-powered grease gun

Proving to be a popular tool around contractors and farmers’ yards in recent times, battery-powered grease guns make the not-so-fun job of greasing both easier and quicker.

The 18V Dewalt battery-powered grease gun works on standard Dewalt batteries found in their cordless range, which in some cases may mean the body only needs to be purchased.

It features an extra-long 42-inch flexible hose for all those hard-to-reach grease fittings. This particular kit comes with one 5.0Ah battery, shoulder strap and a fast charger.

Retailing at €310 plus VAT, cheaper variants are available on the market and do the same job, but may not have the same quality for prolonged use.

Milwaukee impact wrench

The Milwaukee impact wrench is a useful tool around any yard.

Other battery-powered tools making life easier are impact wrenches. Carrying out repairs in the field when no electrical power is available or just in the workshop – these prove very handy for removing wheel nuts. This particular Milwaukee impact wrench is capable of fastening nuts up to 1356Nm of torque. Included in the box is a charger and two 5.0Ah batteries. Retailing at €565 plus VAT. Cheaper impact wrenches are widely available with prices generally starting at €200 upwards.

Polaris Ranger

The new Polaris Ranger has a power output of 24.8hp.

After two years of development, Polaris has introduced the new diesel Ranger for 2019. The new series sees the introduction of a new engine and an updated chassis, while Polaris also claim the new series has increased comfort, handling and driving capabilities.

The Ranger is now powered by a new three-cylinder Kubota diesel engine, capable of churning out 24.8hp and 40.8ftlb of torque. This engine has a 200-hour service interval and a longer filter life. The Ranger now has a top speed of 65km/h.

The Ranger has a towing capacity of 1,134kg and a 720kg payload capacity. It has a ground clearance of 33cm, a 20% increase from its predecessor. The latest model sees a new exterior design and a new wider one-piece chassis.

The ATV features on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD), meaning all four wheels engage automatically when the vehicle needs more forward traction and goes back to two-wheel drive when it doesn’t. Prices start at €14,995 plus VAT.

Suzuki KingQuad

Prices for the Suzuki KingQuad start at €9,999 including VAT.

Suzuki are certainly no strangers to the ATV market, having launched their first ATV, the ‘QuadRunner’ back in 1983. The company have recently launched four new KingQuad ATVs.

This includes the KingQuad 750 and KingQuad 500 power steering models and the 750 and 500 non-power steering models. The new ATVs have both engine and chassis upgrades, in addition to new features and new styling.

The chassis upgrades mean that all three models can now tow an impressive 600kg, which is an increase of 33% from the previous models. The new range also sees new front suspension, a new steering system, a new power steering system and a new rear stabiliser. Major refinements and changes have been made to the engine unit, which is manufactured by Suzuki themselves. Other new features in the range include a handlebar-mounted headlight to help improve visibility and new additional storage compartments to help the rider carry more equipment.

The range is fitted with a new multi-function instrument panel. One nice feature of this includes a service reminder icon, which pops up when the ATV is due for its routine service. Suzuki also noted that the redesign of some body parts has made some components, such as the fuel filter, easier to access.

These ATVs have an automatic variable ratio transmission and are available in a range of colours. Prices including VAT start at €9,999 for the KingQuad 500 non-power steering and range up to €11,499 for the KingQuad 750 power steering.
