Cattle in Northern Ireland this week made the 100m journey across Lough Erne on to summer grazing pasture.
Fermanagh’s National Trust Area Ranger Matthew Scott explains how and why cattle swim to their summer grazing on Inish Fendra island in this extraordinary video.
The cattle will stay on the island until mid-September. Although some farmers may use barges to move cattle across a waterway, Scott details how he would always make sure experienced cattle are swimming across with novice cattle.
These experienced cattle "lead the pack".
