A spell of heavy rain midweek is likely to bring significant rainfall to all areas, resulting in above average rainfall amounts. As a result, Met Éireann has said soil moisture deficits will reduce countrywide.

Monday is forecast to be a bright and breezy day with sunshine and some scattered showers. Highest temperatures will vary between 17°C to 21°C with moderate westerly breezes.

On Tuesday, there will be increasing cloud with outbreaks of rain and drizzle through Connacht, Ulster and west Munster; many eastern counties will remain dry for the day. Highest temperatures will range between 18°C to 21°C in southwest breezes.

On Wednesday, Met Éireann has said that heavy rain will spread eastwards though the morning, breaking up into showers for the afternoon and evening.

Looking to Thursday and the forecast is for a fresh day with blustery westerly winds. There will be good sunshine for the morning but showers are forecast to become widespread and heavy in the afternoon. Temperatures on Thursday will range between 14°C to 18°C.

Friday looks set to be windy with outbreaks of rain.
