Rain and drizzle is forecast to extend northeastwards across the country on Monday and it will turn increasingly breezy.

Met Éireann has said it will become milder, with maximum afternoon temperatures of 11°C to 14°C in fresh to strong southwesterly winds.

Monday night will be mild and mostly cloudy, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly on southern, western and northwestern coasts, however good dry intervals are forecast inland. It will be misty in places, with hill and coastal fog. Minimum temperatures will range from 10°C to 13°C in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.

Tuesday

Met Éireann has said that Tuesday will be mild and mostly cloudy, with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, persistent in southern, western and northwestern coastal areas.

Again there will be good dry intervals further inland, with a few bright spells in the east.

Maximum temperatures will range from 13°C to 15°C, in moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, strong in coastal areas.

On Tuesday night, a spell of heavier rain will extend from the Atlantic. Clearer conditions, with scattered showers, will develop in Atlantic coastal counties later, Met Éireann said, but it will turn colder there.

Minimum temperatures will range from 7°C to 12°C, in mostly moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong on coasts, later veering westerly in Atlantic coastal counties and easing.

Wednesday

Sunny spells are forecast on Wednesday morning, but scattered showers will occur also, some heavy and possibly of hail, especially in the western half of the country.

Met Éireann has said it will turn colder, with maximum afternoon temperatures of 8°C to 12°c in moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong on coasts.

Minimum overnight values will range from 2°C to 5°C, with further showers or longer spells of rain.

Thursday

Current indications for Thursday are for a cold, bright day, with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Met Éireann said that cloud and more persistent rain will extend from the Atlantic later, mainly affecting the west and southwest.

Maximum temperatures will range from 7°C to 11°C in moderate westerly breezes. Further rain is forecast for a time overnight in Munster and south Leinster. It will be mainly dry elsewhere, but cold, with a risk of frost, especially in the north.
