The long-running land dispute in Lodgewood, Ferns, Co Wexford, is de-escalating. The 150 acres of corn was being harvested on Saturday by the agreement of the two parties at the centre of the land dispute.

These are John B Dockrell Ltd, which became the registered owner of the properties in July 2017, and brother Michael and John Kinsella, the previous owners of the property.

The Kinsella brothers have disputed the validity of the land sale by vulture fund Emberton Finance to John Dockrell and have refused to vacate the property to date. They planted a crop of spring barley on the property this spring and there have been a number of flashpoints since then as the dispute escalated.

Only this week three men appeared in the High Court and were joined to an injunction which had seen John Kinsella jailed for a few hours the previous week.

The corn is being harvested by a local contractor John Murphy with the agreement of both sides. Murphy is also the Wexford IFA grain chair.
