Dairygold has now sold approximately 12,500t of Alfalfa fodder to farmers, with around 2,500t left in stock. The fodder has been purchased by just over 300, mostly dairy, farmers –10% of the co-op’s milk suppliers.

The co-op imported the 15,000t of fodder as part of the Government's fodder import subsidy scheme, which has now ended.

Farmers in the area report that there is plenty of grass on paddocks and many dairy farmers have cows partially out and this is helping stretch fodder. However, on many farms fodder supplies are now running low, with plenty of time yet for the weather to become difficult. It is expected that all remaining alfalfa at Dairygold will be used.
