A total of 164 written submissions were received, with 78 respondents specifically identified as farmers. Meanwhile, 32 responses were from organisations such as the IFA, INHFA, ICMSA, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Teagasc, EPA. Twenty-seven responses were received from subscribers to the Vegan Sustainability magazine.
There were a total of 11 categories within the submission form covering some of the most important issues such as direct payments, the environment, on farm investment and simplification.
The consultation period ran from 26 January to 23 March 2018. It involved six public meetings held across Ireland, which over 1,200 people attended.

“As we enter the negotiations to come, it is important to be armed with the perspective that comes from engaging with a range of people with an active interest in the sector,” Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed said.
