Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) applications have ramped up over the past two weeks, with over 10,000 applications currently being made every week.
As of Wednesday 18 April, 53,600 applications had been made online, representing about 45% of all BPS applicants.
This is the first year that all applications must be made online with the deadline of 15 May giving farmers less than a month to complete the application.
