Dairygold supplier from Cork and former National Dairy Council chair Teddy Cashman is chairing a governance subcommittee for the new recently enlarged Lakeland Dairies following the April merger with LacPatrick.

Lakeland suppliers have until the end of next week to send in their views on any review of governance they feel is required. Submissions must be made in writing and received by 5 July – all submissions must be sent with name, address and milk supplier number to the secretary at Lakeland Dairies.

Suppliers have been notified in writing about sending in submissions.

12-month period

As per the rules the new Lakeland board of 23 directors has been established to cover the initial 12-month period post-merger.

The traditional board has appointed a governance subcommittee comprising of six members from both LacPatrick and Lakeland, as well as independent chair Teddy Cashman. Teddy has a wealth of experience in corporate governance and IFA and was recently elected to Agri Aware.

My understanding is that in coming months, the subcommittee will review the representation and governance structures of Lakeland and potentially make recommendations for changes to the board.

Approval

If the subcommittee recommendations are approved by the board, then they require member approval and a special general meeting will be convened.
