Donald Trump has made US farming great again with a $37bn injection of government funding. Wouldn't it be great for Irish farmers if we could get him appointed as agriculture commissioner in Brussels to do the same for us?

The Dealer suggests that we nominate a famous Co Clare landowner with a proven track record of delivering money for farmers.
This alone would secure the support of Irish farmers and a quick poll by the Dealer suggests that he has an 82% approval rating with farmers, enough to surely unite the Irish farm organisations to campaign for him being allocated the agriculture portfolio in the reshuffled Commission.
The Dealer is of course thinking of Donald Trump.

Behind in the polls in the US for re-election, he could be persuaded to “make the EU great again”. Most recently, he has made farming great again by channelling $37bn of payments its way this year to offset the cost of the pandemic.
He has also been a regular on the US golf tour but like all good golfers would have no problem switching to the European tour.
Before he does though he might want to have a word with Phil Hogan on the golf etiquette required in Ireland.
