Prices for urea, CAN and compound fertilisers are running €50/t lower than 2019 levels, an Irish Farmers Journal price survey has revealed.

Bad weather, low levels of autumn planting in the tillage sector and cashflow challenges are affecting movement in the trade.

Farmers also held off on purchasing in late 2019 and early 2020 in anticipation of lower prices.

The average price for CAN is €235/t, with prices ranging from €220/t to €245/t

Standard urea prices are ranging from €307/t to €350/t, while prices for protected urea range from as low as €360/t to €370/t for significant volumes to in over €400/t.

The average price for CAN is €235/t, with prices ranging from €220/t to €245/t. For compound fertilisers, prices for 27:2.5:5 are closely linked with 18:6:12 at €332/t to €335/t, while 24:2.5:10 – with its higher potassium content – is generally priced €10/t higher. Prices for 10:10:20 are priced anywhere from €25/t to €35/t higher than 18:6:12.

There is also a €5/t to €15/t difference in price between fertiliser traded in half-tonne top-link bags and 50kg bags.
