Barrel Club Midleton Distillery

This one is for serious whiskey fans - expect to get excited.

If you’re really into your Irish whiskey, no doubt you’ve made your way through some of Midleton Distillery’s most well-known and successful Irish whiskeys, including Jameson, Powers, Redbreast, Midleton Very Rare and the Spot family.

Now they are taking things to another level with the launch of Barrel Club Midleton Distillery – a new whiskey club that connects members to the whiskeys and people from Midleton Distillery.

Each member will receive a welcome gift box containing a specially personalised Distillery Edition bottle, tasting glasses and journal.

Then, each quarter, a limited-edition whiskey consignment including a 700ml bottle, along with three 50ml samples, will be delivered; each themed and handpicked by master distiller Kevin O’Gorman and his team at Midleton Distillery.

This is an exclusive club with only 500 Barrel Club Midleton Distillery memberships available initially in Ireland.

It also includes virtual tastings where whiskey lovers can discuss and enjoy tastings together, as well as access to the in-person experience, either a behind-the-scenes tour at Midleton Distillery or a whiskey blending class at Jameson Distillery Bow Street.

Given the exclusivity, it obviously comes at a price, with annual membership costing €499, but for some whiskey lovers, this could be a small price to pay.

The Sambo Ambo

New Carroll's x Sambo Ambo Turkey Club.

One day we’ll be back travelling again, back to some of our favourite places, such as the Big Apple, sinking our teeth into a proper NYC deli sandwich.

However, in the meantime, Carroll’s of Tullamore and The Sambo Ambo have teamed up at Dinetown in the Iveagh Market to bring New York to Dublin until the end of July.

People will be able to get stuck into three different mouth-watering #TheBigEat sandwiches that Marcus O’Laoire has created especially for the collaboration with meat stacked high – The Carroll’s x Sambo Ambo Reuben, The Carroll’s X Sambo Ambo Club Sambo and The Carroll’s x Sambo Ambo Ham and Cheese Slammer, with 10% of sales donated to the Dublin Simon Community.

Check out their Instagram feed to see their insanely mouth-watering sandwiches at www.instagram.com/thesamboambo.

If you can’t make it to the Iveagh Market, Carroll’s of Tullamore has the only range of New York deli shaved meats that you can get in supermarkets and include ham, chicken, turkey and pastrami. They’re all 100% Irish and are made in Tullamore.

Moy Park breaks the ice in new deal

Moy Park chicken fillets at Iceland.

While Iceland has predominantly featured British produce in its freezers, in recent times we’ve seen more support for Irish suppliers.

Now Iceland Ireland has just announced a new supplier partnership with Moy Park, which will supply 12 of its branded products.

The new lines incorporate BBQ and coated chicken products, including Moy Park’s signature garlic and herb kievs, southern fried mini fillets and cajun chicken sizzlers, as well as ready-to-eat roast chicken breast fillets.

Moy Park is now one of 70 local suppliers and farmers that supply the 27 Iceland Irish stores with their fresh and frozen produce.

Moy Park commercial manager Estelle Robinson said: “Securing a supply contract with Iceland Ireland for the first time is an important milestone in the growth of the brand.”
