Aurivo Co-op has confirmed that it is taking orders for imported haylage from the UK for farmers in the northwest experiencing fodder shortages.

The co-op’s feed mill is also selling a three-way fodder stretcher mix, containing maize, barley and soya hulls, at €30 below cost to help farmers.

Aurivo was one of the first co-ops to provide fodder clinics last year, when concerns were raised that there could be a shortage of fodder in the northwest area.

It delivered a number of clinics in Sligo, Donegal and Leitrim, and took orders for hay and silage from farmers at the time.

Import subsidy

The cost of bales is €65 for 6 x 4 x 3 of haylage and €68 for 6 x 4 x 2.5 of hay.

Aurivo has urged any farmers to get in touch with its Farmer Facing Team if they are experiencing any difficulties in sourcing or obtaining fodder.
