Ex-Farm Potato Prices reported to IFA

Comment: Potato sales are described as holding firm and we should see further improvement as schools return from the holidays this week. More growers are finishing up on Queens, which is leaving gaps in the market for others to fill. Due to the reduction in production levels, all Queens should be sold, unlike the surplus which occurred last year. All retailers are now stocking new-season maincrop, while any remaining quantities of old-season crop are moving to peelers. Supplies of new-season whites and Kerr Pinks have increased in the market this week. In the fresh chip sector, prices are disappointing. However, on a positive note, frying quality of Irish product is excellent at the moment.
