After a long winter, fodder stocks are now being replenished and there has been widespread coverage across social media of the long-awaited silage season. We took to twitter to take a look at some of the silage action for 2018 across Ireland.

Reggie Corrigan in Co Westmeath was raking in the sunshine yesterday evening.

Donal Kearns in Co. Meath was flat out wrapping bales on Tuesday.

Dave McCormick in Newry made the most of the long evenings during his first cut.

Darragh Scott from Co Tipperary was already wrapped, stacked and ready to leave first cut behind in the middle of last week.

Philip Tyndall Co Wexford was busy preparing for the start silage season over the weekend.

Andrew O’Sullivan had all hands on deck for the covering of the pit in Cape Clear in west Cork.

Alison Sinnott from Co Wexford was busy working under the red sky in the sunny southeast.

John O'Donovan in Bandon, Co Cork was all go as the fine weather set in, bringing in first cut pit silage.

John Pringle in Co Wicklow was able to get a good wilt on his first cut.

A full family effort was needed to cover the pit late last week on Denis O’Donovan's farm in west Cork.

With the weather set to remain dry, the silage season has just begun and second cuts are on the minds of many farmers already.
