Irish Farmers Journal breakfast bulletin: schemes underspend and long winter
In the news today, 22 March 2018: the IFA estimates that more than €100m in farmers' payments will remain unspent, while the delayed spring is hitting farms and a crackdown on MCPA is under way.
Today is set to be the wettest day this week, with Met Éireann forecasting that rain will develop over the western half of the country in the morning and reach the east of the country in the afternoon. It will be wet everywhere in the evening before clearing to showers later in the night. Highest temperatures of 9°C or 10°C in gusty southerly winds will fall to between 2°C and 6°C at night.
