Irish international show jumpers were out in force over the weekend, picking up multiple placings. On Sunday Tipperary’s Denis Lynch finished fourth in the five star Grand Prix in Waregem, Belguim. Lynch partnered the 10-year-old gelding The Sinner into the final jump-off round of the competition.

They posted a competitive time of 45.22, which saw them hold onto the lead for a short period of time. In the end it was Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels who claimed the top spot with Lady Cracotte. Lynch collect €27,000 for his fourth place finish.

Kildare’s Michael Pender finished third with Casanova Van Overis Z in the three star Grand Prix in Vilamoura. Pender is one of a number of Irish rider who will be competing at the Portuguese venue over the coming weeks.

Harry Allen was in action in France. He finished second in the two start Grand Prix with Cheese WZ.

Success was not limited to Europe, Captain Brian Cournane came second in the $70,000 Fidelity Investments Classic at the four start American Gold Cup in New York. Cournane jumped clear in 37.05 with the Irish Sport Horse Mare Penelope Cruz.

This left the Irish combination in poll position until his time was beaten by McLain Ward (USA). Ward jumped clear riding Tradition De La Roque in 35.84.

Ireland featured in the line-up again when Kilkenny’s Richie Moloney finished sixth with Freestyle De Muze.
