There were 889 new tractors registered in the UK during May 2019, representing a 27% drop compared to the same month last year.

According to Stephen Howarth from the Agricultural Engineers Association, this trend was to be was expected following a 35% year-on-year increase in new tractor registrations the previous month.

He suggests that the high number of registrations in April was due to tractors being registered that had been imported before the UK was initially scheduled to leave the EU at the end of March.

“Although Brexit is causing some volatility in the monthly figures, it has not had a dramatic effect on the number of tractors being registered overall,” Howarth said.
