Skoda in Ireland has been a long-term partner of Dogs Trust Ireland and is keen to create the highest level of safety for all of their passengers. The new doggy seatbelt comes in four sizes, and can be used in combination with a leash. It prevents dogs from moving around within the car, which may be distracting for drivers, and also ensures that dogs are safely secured in the event of an accident.

Also available as part of the range is a practical backseat protector, to ensure the upholstery stays clean when your pet travels with you, while the non-slip water-resistant material ensures your pet is completely safe while the car is moving.

In addition to the dog seatbelt and backseat protector, a divider grill is available for the boot of estate models, which allows you to split your boot into two sections; one for your dog and one for your luggage - perfect for family trips or staycations.

Estate models can also avail of the Cross-Partition Grill, which sits directly behind the rear headrests, allowing your pet to sit safely in the boot without the risk of them jumping into the backseat for a cuddle. The lattice design ensures that the driver has a clear driving view as well as always having sight of the pet, making sure they always feel like part of the family.

The Skoda dog accessory range is available from dealers, with prices starting from €39.78 for the protective back seat cover, rising to €115 for the large dog seat belt.

Recent research from Dogs Trust Ireland found that 36% of Irish households have one or more dogs and it is estimated that there are around 750,000 pet dogs in Ireland.
