The Sunday Times Rich List, as ever, has strong farming links. Following the recent passing of Dr Pearse Lyons, his widow Deirdre and children Mark and Aoife occupy eighth position in his stead, with a combined wealth of €1.7bn.
John Magnier of Coolmore (14, €1.099bn) and Michael O’Leary (16, €1.039bn), the Gigginstown Stud beef farm owner, are also in the top 20.
Highest among the non-billionaires are two beef barons. Larry and Kitty Goodman and family are worth a cool €633m, but drop one place to 22 on the list.

Bert and Maurice Allen, who sold their Slaney Foods interests to Larry Goodman’s ABP back in 2016, are also down, from 36 to 41, but are worth a whopping €345m.
