The vacant seat was brought about by the departure of former minister Phil Hogan to become the EU Agriculture Commissioner.
The election will be hotly contested, as it is coming close to a general election.
His nomination is likely to prove controversial, as he is from the same area as the current TD, John-Paul Phelan.
Other confirmed candidates for the seat include former Fianna Fáil TD Bobby Aylward, Sinn Féin councillor Kathleen Funchion, and Green Party councillor Malcolm Noonan.
Bryan was president of the IFA from 2010 to 2014.
