Dairy product prices rose by 3.2% at this week’s Global Dairy Trade auction, the fifth consecutive rise in prices this year.

Skim milk powder (SMP) prices were up 1%, with an average price of US$1,998/t, while the whole milk powder (WMP) index was up 1.3%, returning an average price of US$3,312/t.

The main mover at this week’s auction was butter, with prices up 11.2%, with an average price of US$5,479/t.

Meanwhile, most processors held their prices for April supplies of milk this week.

Aurivo set its price at 29.33c/l, Glanbia set a price of 29.32c/l and Kerry held its price at 29.3c/l. Dairygold has also held it’s price at 29.9c/l.

Lakeland Dairies was first out of the blocks this month, holding its price at 29.67c/l.
