Wycombe MP Emma Reynolds has been appointed as the new Secretary of State at DEFRA, following a cabinet reshuffle prompted by the resignation of UK deputy prime minister, Angela Raynor.
Having spent just over a year in the role, previous DEFRA incumbent, Steve Reed is off to take up a post as Housing minister. It means there has been 10 different DEFRA ministers in the last 10 years. Reynolds comes to the job with a background in the financial sector.
The reshuffle also saw DEFRA farming minister Daniel Zeichner sent to be back benches and replaced by Angela Eagle, the MP for Wallasey near Liverpool. She was previously a minister in the Home Office.
