Numbers are starting to drop both in Mohill and Ballymote, although next Saturday will see the special Monaghan day bullock sale in Mohill, with a large entry on offer.

Farmer demand is still very strong, especially for light weanling bulls and heifers and store cattle.

Weanlings around 300kg are selling from €850 to €950/head and stores from 400kg to 450kg are making €1,100 to €1,200.

The sheep trade is well back on last year, with lambs struggling to pass €125/head.

However, numbers are still very low and when hogget numbers tighten in the coming weeks, it may add a little more bite to the market.
