The British Limousin Cattle Society held the first of its premier spring sales in Carlisle this weekend and saw a top price of 50,000gns.

While not having the same number of high-flyers as other years, the sale still managed to maintain its high average, with 108 bulls selling for an average of £6,372. This was led by the juniors, where 32 bulls sold for an average of over £5,200.

50,000gns

Leading the way at 50,000gns was Cloughhead Neville. This young bull is sired by the French bull Gultime, with the dam's pedigree featuring Wilodge Cerberus and Objat.

The second prize winner saw back-and-forth bidding before being knocked down to Wilodge Limousins.

Securing the overall champion at the presale show was the intermediate champion Strathearnred Nidge, brought out by Northern Irish exhibitor Gareth Small on his debut society sale. He was sired by the 45,000gns Ampertaine Jamboree.

The day's champion sold for 7,000gns.

Goldies

Standing reserve to Small was Goldies Novelty. This stylish July 2017-born bull was sired by Ampertaine Gigolo, while the dam line goes back to the prolific Goldies Vitality. This one was the choice of Mr Barclay of the Harestone herd for a price of 16,000gns.
