Milk supply for June 2019 looks likely to finish 10% higher than June 2018.

An Irish Farmers Journal survey of milk supply estimates from each of the processors reflect the extra cows, better weather and grazing conditions across the country.

If confirmed over the coming days, they would likely make June milk supply another billion-litre month.

Last year the CSO calculated June supply at 924m litres, so another 10% would take the Republic supply to over the 1bn litre mark for June. For farmers, the extra 90m litres or so lifts June output up €27m on June 2018.

Glanbia reports milk supply up an estimated 9% with a number of days still to go in June. Lakeland reports milk supply up 9%. Arrabawn is up close to 9%. Most of the west Cork Co-ops report supply up between 8% and 10%. Kerry reports June supplies up 7%. Aurivo reports estimated June milk supply up 10%.
